About USF NSBE
Many students enter STEM carrying ambition, intelligence, and potential, but not always the early exposure, mentorship, technical confidence, or professional network needed to fully compete in engineering spaces. For Black students and students from underrepresented communities, NSBE helps close that gap by creating an environment where academic support, technical development, leadership, and community are built intentionally.
At USF, NSBE is more than a student organization. It is a place where students find guidance, sharpen their skills, prepare for industry, and learn what it means to become culturally responsible engineers. Our work shows up in many forms: teaching elementary students how to build their first robot, helping engineering students build their professional brand, hosting technical workshops, preparing members for career fairs and conferences, connecting students with industry mentors, and serving the communities that shaped us. We exist to build engineers who are prepared, connected, and committed to reaching back while moving forward.
